Globe subsidiary Yondu, a top IT solutions company, has officially kicked off the second season of CODECAMP, a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at providing free learning opportunities to qualified graduating students, fresh graduates, and aspiring IT professionals.

The fifteen Code Campers for this season were welcomed during the kickoff by Learning and Organizational Development Manager Roxanne Tamayo, Yondu CFO and COO Chachi Cordero, CTO Joy Go, VP for Talent Acquisitions Richa Chaudhary, and VP for Human Resources Jun Santiago.

Learning and Organizational Development Manager Roxanne Tamayo briefs the Code Campers about what they can expect from CODECAMP

Launched in October 2018, CODECAMP aims to contribute to the industry by addressing talent skill gaps and enable the company’s Tech Group by building a healthy pipeline of talents.

To meet this goal, Yondu provides training activities and upskilling opportunities to the IT aspirants in a dynamic learning environment. Yondu implements a 70-20-10 learning framework composed of 10% lecture time, 20% collaborative learning session, and 70% application of learnings on actual projects.

Yondu Vice President for Human Resources Jun Santiago emphasizes the importance of passion for work

The organization ensures that each Code Camper will receive high-quality training, observing a Subject Matter Expert to Trainees ratio of 1:10 per Camp Unit.

“What makes CODECAMP unique is its high-quality learning experience. We also allow our Code Campers to feel that they belong to the organization by encouraging them to join various HR programs so they can feel what it’s like to be a Yondude,” Jun says.

Code Campers who will pass the performance assessment will join the CODECAMP Graduation, where top-notchers will also be recognized. Depending on the business requirements, job opportunities also await qualified Code Campers.

Yondu CFO and COO Chachi Cordero shares her inspirational message to the Code Campers

For Chachi's part, learning new information and gaining new skills is vital for the growth of professionals and would-be professionals. “There is so much potential in the IT industry and Yondu aims to maximize this potential by training the next generation of IT experts,” she says.

Yondu Chief Technology Officer Joy Go introduces the Camp units to the Code Campers

“We aim to develop aspiring and young IT professionals to make them succeed in the dynamic IT space. After all, they will be the future champions of the industry,” Joy adds.

The success of CODECAMP’s first season last year is an inspiration and driving force for Yondu to make this year’s second season even better. Moving forward, the organization aims to establish an area dedicated to the year-round upskilling of IT talents.

CODECAMP Season 2 Code Campers ready to excel in the digital space

“We are always looking for ways to improve our learning and upskilling initiatives not only for our employees but would-be employees as well. We are optimistic that CODECAMP will be a great avenue of growth for aspiring IT professionals as Yondu pushes for its goal to help the country’s IT industry thrive,” Jun emphasizes.
