A Valentine's With Nina!
A once-in-lifetime up-close-and-personal jam on heart's day
Chad Tabigue, ICONtributor02/15/19 11:02am

It’s the season of love once again as Globe Music and performing Arts Club (MusAC) together with HR's Wonderful Employee experience (WEX) team and Globe Streamwatch collaborated for an annual Valentine’s show, which was this year, dubbed "Love Is All You Need". Like relationships, hindi naman lagi kailangan ng mahabang time para maging successful. If there's budget, este will, there's a way! Because this was the shortest and fastest event that we hosted and organized. Yes to agile planning!

Sabi nga ni Nina, hindi lang naman para sa couples lang ang Valentine's Day. Pwede din sa iniwan, nang-iwan, umaasa, paasa, and sa mga single! So, why not have a group date with your awesome Ka-Globe?!

As early as 5:00 PM, early birds were already started settling in at Taste (8F) to get the best seats. Our HR team also treated us with free food and booze! Walang stub or registration! Pila ka lang and get your food. ‘Pag nabitin ka, pila ka lang ulit!

Our hosts Timothy (NTG) and Kurt (WEX). Thank you!

Opening the program was our very own Walter Sulit, Mr. Work-Music-Life integration himself. Wally, as we call him, performs almost every night after work. His passion for music is what fuels his drive and motivation to pursue that one thing that he loves – music. To know more about his music, please check out his band Four Sikatuna on Spotify https://open.spotify.com/artist/0BjTk93xsKdvklnQHjL739.

I was able to talk to him after his set. I said "Salamat, solid set bro.” He smiled and replied, "’Di ko alam kung bakit, pero bigla ako kinabahan. Iba talaga ang Ka-Globe crowd. Ang saya mag-perform for them.”

Wally is also a musician for hire. He does weddings, private events, birthday parties, you name it! You may contact him at 09178250426.

The second act was our newly discovered band from Channel Management Group (CMG). Under CMG, their team is responsible for learning, development, and engagement of their people. Their team works hard to support the different channels achieve excellence. But they also play hard, engaging in CSR activities, sports and music.

Look who went to watch at their debut gig! It's CMG Head Bernie Llamzon!

It was SA&PE Band's (Sales Academy and People Engagement) debut gig – first timers in a large live performance setting! I know that they are nervous but can I see the overwhelming excitement in their eyes. All the hard work that they exerted every week during their practice paid off. Their anxiousness faded away instantly when they felt the warm appreciation of the audience. It was a wonderful performance! You really can't beat the heart of a passionate musicians! Me, together with the Titos of Globe MusAC, are very excited for this band's development and future performances. Thank you to Sir Mike Campos for introducing me to these amazing musicians!

AND NOW, NINA!

Headlining the concert was Asia’s Diamond Soul Siren Nina. She is one of the most versatile recording artists of her generation. I know for a fact that she will really make our Valentine's event a blast. Being a music photographer a few years ago, I've watched her perform live several times while covering music festival events. Not all artists can perform well and effectively interact with the audience at the same time. Hitting high notes and engaging the audience is what makes her the perfect artist choice for our event.

There was never a dull moment! Our Ka-Globe were singing with her the entire night. She sang almost all her hit songs like “Someday”, “Love Moves In Mysterious Ways”, and a most-requested cover, “Through the Fire”. So, meron ba umiyak when she sang "I Love You Goodbye"?

Look at that crowd!!!

After Nina said goodnight, we approached her at the stage and asked her to try our Globe Streamwatch. She gladly said yes and performed another song. Sinulit talaga natin si Nina that night! Good thing the device was easy to set up and use – seryoso! To get the real-life experience, we used one of the LED TVs at the Taste, launched the Youtube app, and searched for a videoke version of “Loving You”. We saw that Nina was enjoying the quality of the output, especially the seamless Youtube stream and sound output quality! This device is so portable and flexible and the added mic ports are what makes the product unique. Pwede mag-duet!

Here's a (shaky) short video of Nina using our Streamwatch!

Streamwatch is the world’s first all-in-one device with fast home internet, clear and free local TV channels, and internet TV with one million videos, shows, and movies. It is available at select Globe stores located in Metro Manila, Laguna, Cavite, Bulacan, Rizal and regional centers, Cebu and Davao for an introductory price of P2999 (that’s P2000 off from the standard retail price of P4,999!).

Here is Nina with her very own Globe Streamwatch.

We all went happy and some even experienced a Last Song Syndrome (LSS). Yes, I heard some of you singing at the elevator and lobby area!

On behalf of Globe MusAC we would like to thank Sir Ato Jiao and his WEX Team, the Broadband Group, our Logistics and Admin Support (LAS) Team, and of course our Security Team.

I almost forgot! Globe MusAC is also conducting voice lessons and registrations are now on-going and available to be participated in by any Ka-Globe, so you can sing like Nina! For more information please check the link below:
