Getting the Groove In Mangroves
Earth Month Activity for 2017

It was a fulfilling day to me and to my NTG-SCC (Network Technical Group-Service Command Center) buddies when we volunteered to be at the Mangrove Tree Planting Activity last April 18, for our 2nd Earth Month Activity for 2017, in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

From Valero, we took off in the midst of dawn and went our way to The Globe Tower to meet Christine and Mean, two more volunteers from IROC-CFS (Installation and Repair Operations Center-Customer Field Services) and our Lead Team Leader JP Gulay of Corp.Com.

We assembled at arch of Calatagan Batangas and waited for DENR representatives. People from the Manila Standard were also among those who participated for the day.

At Brgy. Talisay Calatagan Batangas, the activity started with a short introduction from the Brgy. Captain followed by an orientation from DENR   regarding the enormous benefits of planting mangroves. Aside from its important role in the food chain and habitation for both estuarine and coastal fish, planting mangroves help us prevent water movement and coastal erosion.

Our feet soaked in mud and water, under the sun, while planting the mangroves, we just hoped and prayed that every seedling we planted will live and continue to grow.

The activity was both fun and challenging! We will not forget the camaraderie and team goal we shared throughout the event. To preserve and nurture our environment is everyone's accountability.

I am proud to be a Ka-Globe! Proud to do a #GlobeOfGood
