You probably hate The Globe Tower (TGT) elevators by now, thinking that there must be something wrong why the elevator halls are always crowded and the elevator you're assigned to always seems FOREVER to arrive. Well, the good news is: We know why. The bad news is: It's YOUR fault.

We caught up with Didi Javier (Workplace Enhancement and Customer Support) and she confirmed that the elevators are literally taking a beating because of how we're all using it - wrong.

"We are not using them properly and it affects everybody else. Everyone who's using the elevator must register by pushing the button because it's a computerized, smart elevator which counts the people using it," Didi explains.

THREE EXAMPLES OF THE WRONG WAY WE'RE USING THE TGT ELEVATORS

1. The Barkada ride

The biggest contributor to this mess is when there's a bunch of you going to a certain floor and ONLY one of you presses the button. The correct way to do this is press for the number of people you are with.

So, if you're in a group of five, you'd have to press the elevator buttons five times – one for each rider.

2. The loner ride

Alternatively, if there's only you riding the lift, resist - we repeat: RESIST! - the temptation to press the button again. This is so that the computers don't miscalculate you as two, or three, or four persons...

3. The 'nakikisakay lang' dude/dudette

No. Just no! You can't do that old-elevator thing wherein you say "Is this going to [insert floor number here]" because the computer needs to count you! If you're doing this a la 'Barkada ride' in this list, the problem is then multiplied.

CONGESTION AT TGT?

TGT is filled to the brim. Building administrators ICON told that there is an average of about 4,000 souls in the building. That's discounting all the ones "in the field" (or at WonderBowl or Skinny Mike's, or wherever!).

We learned from Didi that the real building policy was to not allow guests inside our offices so the fact that we do allow them into our offices and meeting rooms now also contributes to the elevator traffic. Oh and the meeting rooms! Watch out for that 'coz that's for another article.

USE THE TGT ELEVATORS PROPERLY

So now that you know that you're probably contributing to the elevator traffic we're experiencing, are you ready to now use it properly? We hope so, because next up, we'll use our spy cams to see who's NOT doing it right.

PS. We're just kidding about the spy cams.

... but on the second thought...
